Drawing therapy
Last week I was lucky to catch the exhibit of John Singer Sargent's charcoal portraits at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York. Although I work primarily in cut paper collage for my books, drawing is my first love. These portraits were so inspiring! I am motivated to do more drawing again.
My daughter, viewing the 1923 portrait of Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon who later became known as the Queen Mother. |
Sargent's portrait of the Irish poet, William Butler Yeats |
Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, who became a sculptor and later founded the Whitney Museum of American Art. I love the amazing perspective of her outstretched arm! |
