Harvesting gardens and books
As I cook up the last of the pears for sauce and put the jars in the freezer next to the pesto I made from the last of the basil a month ago, I'm thinking about the bounty of gardens. In my book, Rainbow Stew, published by Lee & Low, three kids visit their grandpa and help him harvest his garden.
Jama Kim Rattigan, a picture book writer who also writes a wonderful blog called Jama's Alphabet Soup, interviewed me about Rainbow Stew when it was first published. It's a soup pot full of stories about gardens, my childhood, the process I used to make this book, and photos.
